Virgie Mae Holder

Virgie Mae Holder, age 96, of Kirby, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014. She was born on January 13, 1918, in Fendley, the daughter of John Calvin Evans and Mamie B. Roberts Evans. On January 20, 1938, she was married to Roy H. Holder, who preceded her in death on October 6, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dr. Kenneth Roy Holder; three brothers, Ozell Evans, Ambress Evans and Hubert Evans; and one sister, Laverne Small. Virgie enjoyed crocheting, playing dominoes and blue grass music. She was happiest when she was taking care of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Benny and Lana Holder of Kirby; her daughter-in-law, Dr. Birdie L. Holder of Bismarck; four grandchildren and their spouses, Todd H. and Dana Holder of Dallas, Texas, Tonja Holder and Satyam Barakoti of Atlanta, Tana and Stephen Risner of Kirby and Brian and Andrea Holder of Kirby; her great-grandchildren, Glenn and Shana Turner, Jacob Risner, Brady Holder, Brach Holder, Brantley Holder, Kenna Holder, Anna Holder and Annapurna Barakoti; her great-great-granddaughter, Kali Nicole Turner; two sisters, Sue Wilson of Mount Ida and Joyce Buck of Forrest Hill, California; her sister-in-law, Betty J. Evans of Mt. Pine; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 19, 2014, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Scott Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the services. Interment will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Todd Holder, Brian Holder, Glenn Turner, Jacob Risner, Brady Holder, Brach Holder and Stephen Risner. Honorary pallbearers will be the residents, nurses and staff of the Glenwood Health and Rehab. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bear Creek Cemetery, P.O.
