Virgie Lyons, age 84, of Amity, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014. She was born on September 4, 1929, at Lodi, the daughter of Ernest McGough and Bertha Killian McGough. On July 8, 1945, she was married to Major Rudolph Lyons who preceded her in death on March 16, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Tommy McGough and Charles McGough. She was a beautician and owned and operated her own beauty shop for several years in Amity. She enjoyed gardening, yard work and spending time outdoors. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and always taking care of each and every one of them. Her hard working spirit will be remembered by all and while everyone who loved and cherished her will deeply miss her, her memory will live on in each of their hearts forever. She is survived by her four sons and their spouses, Kenneth and Patricia Lyons of Amity, Ronnie and Patty Lyons of Hot Springs, David Lyons and Jimmy Lyons, both of Amity; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Pete Buck of Atlanta, Georgia and Floy Dean and Gary Murray of Hot Springs; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Lyons, Ronnie Lyons, David Lyons, Jimmy Lyons, Jason Lyons, Adam Lyons, Bryan Lyons and Brent Lyons. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of the Lake Hamilton Health and Rehab. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
