Viola (Miss Vi) Hurt went to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 8, 2023. She was born November 8,1933 to Molly (Jackson) and Henry Stephens in Newport, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings; husband, Bishop Hurt; and one great granddaughter.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, three loving daughters, Pat Huggins of Austin, AR, Carol Lazenby of Daleville, AL, and Lisa (Wayne) Hackett of Shirley, AR; six grandsons, Mark Lazenby of Port Charlotte, FL, Josh Lazenby of Enterprise, AL, Chris Huggins of Beebe, AR, Jason Huggins of Austin, AR, Jeremy Huggins of Austin, AR, and James Gentry of Memphis, TN; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
Miss Vi loved the outdoors; she gardened flowers and vegetables, loved to watch and feed the birds. She also loved the wintertime; especially snow. She said that “snow was like a big blanket that God spread over the trees and flowers until it was time for them to awaken in the spring”.
She loved her girls. As a single mom, she worked hard (much overtime and 2, sometimes 3 jobs to provide). She was a good mother (sometimes we thought she was too strict) and her decisions came out of love and what she deemed best for us.
Viola was a longtime member of Lighthouse Tabernacle/Cross Covenant Church in the Furlow community.
The family will host a memorial service that Brother Donny Bailey will be officiating, the memorial service will be at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Cross Covenant Church, 2163 Hwy 294 in Lonoke, AR.
