Verna Lee Bailey

April 25, 1955 — March 30, 2025

Verna Bailey (née Johnston), 69, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 30, with her husband, Donald Bailey at her side. She was born April 25, 1955 in Hot Springs, AR.

Verna was preceded in death by her mother R. Grace Johnston, brother William (Bill) Johnston and sister Carolyn Maddon, all of Pearcy, AR.

Verna is survived by her husband of 44 years, Donald Bailey; her sister, Marsha Cannon (Curtis); nieces Christie Bryant (Eric Brewster) and Cory Craig (Brian); nephews Darren Cannon (Karyn) and T.J. Maddon (Samantha); many cousins, great nieces and nephews, and special friend, Carolee Tremayne, who was part of Verna’s life for 42 years participating with Verna in different sports and vacationing with Verna and Don to many locations.

Verna attended Lake Hamilton School and was All State in High School basketball for several years. Her passion for sports had her playing several years of slow pitch softball and also bowling on a league in her 20’s and 30’s.

Verna enjoyed quilting, gardening and playing video poker for hours on end.

As many will mourn this loss, many will also rejoice in their memories of the time shared with Verna.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lake Hamilton Health & Rehab for their care of Verna during the past three years.
