Verna Setze Eckert, 76, of Little Rock, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007. She was a devoted wife and mother. She participated in the Little Rock Scripture Study, Christ the King Senior Citizens, Ladies' Rosary Group and Cursillo. Verna volunteered with Abba House, Martha's Ministry, and the Holy Family Mission. She belonged to Christ the King Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister to the sick and a St. Joseph's Helper.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ken Eckert; sons, Eric Eckert of Little Rock and Kenny Eckert and wife, Debbie, of Conway; daughter, Cheryl Burton and husband, Bruce, of Malvern; sisters, Beverly Russell and husband, Jim, of New Orleans, Louisiana; Marilyn Soniat and husband, Ed, of Fort Worth, Texas; and Carol Ann Piggott of Mandeville, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Trey Eckert and his wife Laura, Tara Eldridge and her husband Jason, Anthony Eckert, and Abbey Eckert, all of Conway; Kyle Burton and his wife Allyse, Katy Burton and Luke Burton, all of Malvern; and five great-grandchildren, Parker, Alec and Channing Rose Eldridge and Delaney and Macy Eckert.
Visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. this evening, Friday, August 10 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4000 N. Rodney Parham, Little Rock, followed by the Rosary at 7:30, officiated by Msgr. J. Gaston Hebert. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 11, 10:00 a.m. at the Church, celebrated by Msgr. Francis Malone. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Helpers, in care of Christ the King Church.
