Verla Mae McHughes Claghorn born May 11, 1931 departed May 21, 2016. She is survived by 1 brother, George McHughes and Martha of Ferndale; 1 niece, Jeanne; 1 nephew, Jerry; 1 daughter, Vicki Rucker and Jim, sons, James and Matt Rucker all of Scott; son, Ronald Claghorn and daughter Natalie Claghorn who live in South San Francisco, California.
Mom enjoyed working as a LPN at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock for 40 years. She was elected to serve on the State Board of Nursing. Mom was a member of Crystal Hill Baptist Church for many years, In recent years she enjoyed her DVD's of Sunday church services which the church sent to her. She graduated from Joe T. Robinson in 1949.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Crystal Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Arrangements by Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. online obituary www.smithfamilycares.com
