Verda Mary Tipton

 Verda Mary Tipton (July 8, 1928-January 27, 2025

 Verda Mary (Ackerman) Tipton of Bigelow, beloved and cherished by many, passed away peacefully surrounded by love in her home at the age of 96. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, reverent Christian, loyal friend, and always quite contrary. Granny, as she was affectionately known, would always provide infinite wisdom, unsolicited advice, beauty & fashion tips, ceaseless witnessing, all with a ‘Granny twist.’ Verda Mary was born in Edson, KS to Henry and Ella Pauline Ackerman who preceded her in death. She was predeceased by her adoring husband of 61 years, Wiley Bill Tipton. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Rolla, Wayne, and Edward Ackerman; sisters Irene Owens and Elaine Tillman; children Joy Lynn Hannah, Randall Tipton, and Glenda Smith; also, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who passed away too young.

 She is survived by her children Roger (Shirley) Tipton, Robert (Janet) Tipton, Eual (Shandra) Tipton, and Nancy (Dale) Talley; siblings Johnny Ackerman (Tonia), Frances Milliken, and Catherine (Glenn) Pettus; in-laws Linda Tipton and Jeff Smith; 19 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; countless nieces and nephews; and an innumerable amount of people whose lives were touched by her. 

 Please join us in celebrating the life of Verda Mary Tipton on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. in Vollman Cemetery, Bigelow, AR 72016 for her graveside service.
