Van Harper Browning, age 79, of Hot Springs, died Friday, July 22, 2022.
He was born September 24, 1942, in Pine Bluff, the son of Vachel and Louise Browning. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and one stepson, Junior McCutchen.
Van graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1960 and Louisiana Tech in Electrical Engineering in 1965. He worked summers for AP&L during his college days. He was hired full time in 1965 after finishing college and retired in 1996 from Entergy.
He enjoyed being Gramps to all his grandchildren. Van was an outdoorsman, a hunter and loved dancing. Most of all he loved caring for their beautiful place outside of Hot Springs. Rest in peace dear loved one.
He is survived by his wife, Martha McCutchen Browning of Memphis; his daughter, Wendy (Vince) O’Bar, and grandchildren Nicholas (Madison), David, Johnny and Mary Elizabeth all of Houston, Texas; his son, Steven (Sandra) Browning and grandchildren, Sophia and Isabella all of Washington, D.C.; his deceased stepson’s family, Kim McCutchen and grandchildren, Shawn and Nick all of Memphis, Tennessee; his stepson, Les (Tammy) McCutchen and grandchildren, Leslie, Mal Scott and Jacob and great-grandson, Edwin all of Hot Springs; extended family and a host of many good friends.
There will be no services, just a close family gathering.
Cremation arrangement under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
