Vada Johnson Mize, a beloved member of her family, passed away on October 22 2024, at the age of 86. Born on March 14, 1938, in Cave City, Arkansas, Vada spent her life cultivating meaningful relationships and contributing to those around her.
Vada’s career as a beauty operator spanned many years, culminating in her retirement from Meadowcliff Hair Fashions, where she provided hairstyling services with grace and care. Her dedication to her profession and the satisfaction of her clients was a testament to her character.
A proud graduate of Cave City High School and Black Woods Beauty School, Vada’s education equipped her with the skills that would serve her throughout her career. She was known for her attention to detail and her warm personality, which made her not only a skilled beautician but also a cherished confidant to many.
In her personal life, Vada found joy in the simple pleasures of home. She enjoyed keeping house, tending to yardwork, and, above all, spending precious time with her family and friends. Her nurturing spirit and infectious laughter will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Vada leaves behind her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Mize of Mabelvale, Arkansas. Together, they created a home filled with love and laughter. She is also survived by her children, Pat Dykes and husband Leslie of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Doug Mize of Hensley, Arkansas. Vada’s legacy continues through her granddaughter, Camille Moyer and husband Randy of Little Rock, Arkansas, and her great-granddaughter, Allison Moyer.
Her sisters, Louise Jones and husband Leonard of Cabot, Arkansas, and Clara McIntosh and husband David of Oil Trough, Arkansas, along with her sister-in-law, Noel Mize of Fairfield, California, will hold Veda's memory close to their hearts. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, family members, and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her presence in their lives.
Vada was preceded in death by her parents, Belvie and Opal (Reynolds) Johnson, as well as her brothers, Conway Johnson and Wayne Johnson. She is also remembered by her brother-in-law, Jerry Mize of Fairfield, California, and her sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson and Beverly Johnson.
Family will hold a graveside service at Pinecrest Memorial Park at a later date.
As we remember Vada Johnson Mize, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life that touched the hearts of many and created lasting bonds that will endure. Her spirit, kindness, and love will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
