Truman Mitchell Lollar, 90, of Belleair, FL, formerly of Arkadelphia, passed away, Monday, December 11, 2006, at home under the care of his family and Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. He was born in Foreman, Arkansas November 2, 1916. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist University, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He served in the Arkansas National Guard and the United States Navy. He was a Christian and long time member of First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, FL.
In 1957 he moved from Arkadelphia to St. Petersburg, FL where he owned Lollar Construction Company specializing in residential and commercial construction until 2000. He was past president of Lakewood Homeowners Association. He was a member of the Suncoast Jewelry Club, and the St. Petersburg Housemoving Board of Appeals from 1963 - 1971. He was presented the Key to the City by Mayor Herman Goldner for his outstanding contribution to the Board. He volunteered his services as supervisor of planning and building of the St. Petersburg Pregnancy Center in 1992.
Before moving to Florida his construction company was responsible for the building of many residential and commercial properties in Arkadelphia, Clark County, and throughout Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Nichols Lollar, four daughters, Margaret Anderson, Belleair Bluffs, FL, Emily Wilson, Clermont, FL, Rachel Halaby, Arkadelphia, and Trudy Pearson, Russellville, one sister, Evelyn Glass, Onalaska, Texas; eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be conducted by Pastor Kelly Pearson, son-in-law, Friday, December 29, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Ruggles - Wilcox Funeral Home, Arkadelphia. Inurnment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ouachita Baptist University Scholarship Fund or the First Presbyterian Church, Dardanelle.
