Treba Porter

Treba H. Porter, 94, passed away May 12, 2021 in Bartlett, TN where she had resided since 2017. Prior to that time, she was a long-time resident of Little Rock, AR.

Treba was born on July 22, 1926 near Benton, Arkansas. In 1944 she graduated from Fountain Lake High School in Hot Springs where she was a member of the girls basketball team.  During her teenage years Treba worked at Gingles Department Store and the courthouse in Benton. Later she worked at Sears Roebuck in Little Rock, where she met her husband, Floyd. After a while, Floyd founded National Fence Company and Treba worked with him part-time for several years.

Treba was a devoted Christian and was an active member of Markham Street Baptist Church in Little Rock, until health and vision issues prevented her from attending.  Prior to attending Markham Street Baptist, she was a longtime member of Rosedale Baptist Church, also in Little Rock.

She is survived by her son, Gregrey Porter and his wife Debbie (Matheny) Porter; two grandchildren, Alex Porter, and Wendy Nicole (Porter) Darden and her husband Jeremy; three great-grandchildren, Ayden Porter, Harper Porter and Kingsley Darden; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Porter; her parents, William Thomas (W. T.) and Hessie Robinson; and six siblings, Homer Robinson, Fennie Robinson, Fearney Robinson, Bernice James, Lettie Oates, and Irene Criner.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Ellendale Baptist Church Music Ministry, 3861 Broadway Road, Bartlett, TN  38135.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
