Travis "Jake" Baxley, Sr.

Travis “Jake” Jackson Baxley, Sr., 85, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 surrounded by his family. Jake was born on September 1, 1936 in Bienville Parish, Louisiana to the late Leroy O. and Lela L. Bynum Baxley.

He is a graduate of Castor High School and retired from Roy O. Martin Lumber Company in Louisiana after a life-long career in the Lumber Industry. Afterwards, he owned and operated several businesses including a nursing home medication delivery service, a local car wash, and a “Hot Shot” business.

He was a member of Sanctuary of Praise Church in Pineville where he remained active until his move to Arkansas in 2019. He loved his pastor and church and enjoyed watching services online when he was no longer able to attend in person.

He enjoyed living life and being around people. He loved meeting his friends at the donut shop and McDonald’s. He made friends everywhere he went and moving to Arkansas was a whole new beginning. His days were spent relaxing at home with his family and his dog Roz, visiting job sites and picking up construction materials, and occasionally stopping by Wendy’s. He also enjoyed trips to the barn to feed the horses or watch his great-grandchildren ride, going to the lake, and site-seeing.

Jake is survived by his children: Travis “Jacky” Baxley, Jr. (Tanya) of Martin, LA, Sherry Baxley Spann (Jody) of Little Rock, AR, Connie Baxley of Jacksonville, AR.; and a host of extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, December 27, 2021, at New Ebenezer Cemetery, Bienville Parish, Louisiana.
