Travis Dallas Brann, age 85, born near Clarendon, AR, to B.T. and Maggie Brann, suddenly and unexpectedly passed on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in Hot Springs, AR.
Travis grew up in Brinkley, AR with three brothers and seven sisters whom he loved dearly. He played multiple sports and was a member of a rock and roll band. Upon graduating from Brinkley High School, he enlisted in the US Air Force, where he was assigned at Truax Field, Madison, Wisconsin, as a heavy equipment operator. In 1958, he met and married Alberta Mae Mefford in Waunakee, WS, and soon was transferred to Stewart AFB, New York, and Aaron Lee was born at West Point, NY on July 8, 1959.
While stationed in NY, Travis enjoyed his first taste of flying in a two seat Luscombe!
After serving four years in the US Airforce, he moved to Madison, WS where Juliann Kathleen was born on September 24, 1961, while Travis continued working in the construction field. Subsequently, he joined the Madison Police Department, where he served 4 years, which assisted Travis in starting his aviation career. His claim to fame was assisting in recovering the plane that crashed in Lake Monona, carrying Odes Redding and his band!
Later he took a Corporate Pilot position with a Real Estate developer, which increased his interest in Real Estate Development and Full Time Sales of Vacant Resort Property and Timeshares. Once finished with a couple of development properties, they decided to open his own real estate company, Brann Realty & Building, where he listed and sold large farms. In 1980, he sold Brann Realty and moved back to AR to continue selling South Shore Resort Property & Timeshares. Travis started a new career with J.B. Hunt Transportation in Hot Springs and moved around as needed in AR and LA to fulfill his positions as Driving Instructor, Management Trainer, and Safety Instructor. He retired with J.B. Hunt and built their retirement home in Hot Springs, AR. He loved and cared for Alberta for 50 years; she became ill and he continued caring for her several years before she passed away in February, 2009.
Travis met Lucy McCarley on July 4, 2009, the music and fireworks ignited. They married later that year and have been on their honeymoon for the past 14 years. Their love for each other was evident everywhere they went. They acted like a couple of love birds and loved music together! Travis sang to Lucy, his Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Library and Nursing Homes. He also enjoyed gospel/country music, fellowship, sports, Razorback games, horseback riding, nature walks, traveling and camping with family and friends! He loved to invite his friends/musicians to play at their music room and they would play their hearts out! He played gospel music even when he was sick. The lyrics to his gospel music would lift his and Lucy’s spirits. His music, gentleness and kindness to all will be dearly missed by those who walked with him in this journey of life.
