Tommy R. Markham, age 72, of Norman, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018. He was born on August 5, 1945 in Norman, the son of Homer M. Markham and Ora Lee Hill Markham. On March 5, 1967, he was married to Roseanna Miller. He was preceded in death by his parent; his brother, Johnny Markham; and his sister, Evelyn Davis. Tommy was a United States Army veteran of Vietnam and trained as a helicopter mechanic. After serving in the military, he used his training working for Bell Helicopter in Iran for two years and Lockheed Aircraft in Saudi Arabia for another two years. In 1981, he and Roseanna opened the first convenience store in Montgomery County, Quik-Sak, which they operated for many years. He also operated a 500 sow hog farm. Tommy served eight years on the Norman City Council and fifteen years on the Caddo Hills School Board. He is survived by his wife, Roseanna Markham of Norman; two sons, Bryan Markham of Edmond, Oklahoma and Lucas Markham and his wife, Devin, of Hot Springs; his granddaughter, Melody Markham and another grandbaby on the way; and two brothers, Homer Gene Markham of Norman and Jack Markham of Perryville. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 12, 2018, in the Norman First Baptist Church with Bro. Robbie Loudermilk officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be James Dumont, Shane Black, Levi York, Lane Daw, Tim Turner and Tom Turner. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
