Tom Collins, age 84, of Oden, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019. He was born on October 30, 1935 in Gallion, Louisiana, the son of Bun Collins and Gladys Boyd Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Collins; three sisters, Thelma Raines, Lorene Short and Christine Artis; and his nephew, Brian Tackett. Tom loved the outdoors and worked mowing lawns and cutting firewood. For many years, he did lawn work for Camp Ozark. At 82, he finally retired but didnt sell his commercial Grasshopper mower until the following year. He loved watching old westerns and listening to gospel music, especially the Gaithers and Elvis. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Darlene Wheeler of Oden, Mark Collins, of Sims, Kenny Tackett of Oden, Neal Cauley of Cabot, Stacy Noble of Independence, Kentucky, Frankie Wilson of Pearl, Mississippi, Brenda Shannon of Mountain Home, Tina Wilson Cantrell of Mountain Home, Tom Spurling of Olathe, Kansas, Tony Tackett of Story and Cheyenne Broome of St. Robert, Missouri. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 30, 2019, in the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. James Cogburn officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Mark Collins, Kenny Tackett, Frankie Wilson, Tony Tackett, Shawn Wheeler and Josh Hood. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Wheeler, Christopher Wheeler, Neal Thomas, Neal Cauley, Chris Fryar and Lorene Tedford. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
