Tim Gomez

Tim Gomez, aka “Chief”

Arthur Timothy (Tim) Gomez, Jr., 55, of Conway passed away peacefully Saturday, September 2, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Tim was born July 21, 1968, in French Camp, CA, to Arthur (Art) Timothy Gomez, Sr. and Gloria Gomez.  Even though the military and work took him all over the country and world, he decided to settle in Arkansas in 2019.

Tim served his nation in the US Army.  He was a combat soldier as part of the invasion force during Operation Desert Storm and ultimately achieved the rank of Sergeant.  In addition to his military service, he was a Former Commander of American Legion Paradise Post #149, in Las Vegas, NV.  He was a proud veteran who was devoted to supporting his fellow veterans in the community by providing suicide prevention assistance, aid for those who were disabled, or just lending a helping hand when needed.

Tim was a lifelong learner.  After his military service, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in public administration and recently became a Certified Professional Life Coach. He had a strong desire to help people seek self-improvement and empowerment in life.

Tim had a true passion for riding his Harley and being in the wind. He appreciated the inherent freedom and camaraderie that it provided.  His road name ‘Chief’ paid homage to his proud Native American ancestry.  He was an active member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA 7-1) and enjoyed participating in as many events as possible. He was an avid sports fan, spending many years coaching youth baseball. He especially took pleasure in watching the Dodgers, Steelers, Golden Knights or Razorbacks play anytime he could.

He is survived by his wife Belinda Gomez of Conway; son Jared (Naomi) Gomez of Warwick, Rhode Island; daughters Kristina (Robert) Keener of Conway and Rachel (fiancé Daniel Gorman) Gomez of Vilonia; stepson Zachery Hodges of Fayetteville; parents Art and Lidia Gomez of Greenbrier and Gloria Gomez of Bakersfield, CA; mother-in-law Geneva Beardsley of Hot Springs; sisters Sandra Gomez of Bakersfield, CA, Teresa Saenz of Citrus Heights, CA, Susan Gomez of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and Tomika Strobehn of Bakersfield, CA; brother Fermin (Tess) Castillo of Conway; grandchildren Arabella Keener and Luca and Alessio Gomez; former wife Melissa Gomez of Conway; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who loved and cherished him dearly.
