Thurman Rhodes Junior, known to friends and family as Jay, was born on January 26, 1930 to Thurman Allan Rhodes and Laura Mae Oldis Rhodes in LeMars, Iowa. Mr. Rhodes passed away on June 5, 2019 at the JLM VA Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was married to Pauline Lasseter Rhodes at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, where they both served in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Lasseter Rhodes, his parents, his five siblings, and three of his grandchildren. He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy and served in the Korean War.
He was the father of six children : Jeffrey Rhodes (Judy), Jaquline Carswell (Ken) ,Juanita Anderson (Nelson D), Joyce Bowers, TJ Rhodes, and Jerald Allan Rhodes (Rebecca).
He adored his fourteen grandchildren and his many great- grandchildren:
Elizabeth Harness (Lance), Sarah Prasuhn, William Koch (Nicole), Jonathon Koch (Tabitha), Shawn Rhodes, Elizabeth Mallis (Micheal) ,Daniel Rhodes ( Ariel), Keisha Carswell, Keith Carswell,Joanna Rhodes, Hannah Quintanilla (Anselmo), Shannon Rhodes, Krystal Rhodes and Michael Rhodes.He loved God, his family, his country, and his farm.
A special thank you to Nicole Koch and Joyce Bowers for the care they provided during his final years, and to the VA Hospital and all their special personnel for his multiple years of care.
