Rev. Thurman L. Miller age 84, of Gary, TX, died Saturday, October 29 . He was born August 6, 1921 in Windsor Ontario, Canada, the oldest child to Samuel and Ethel Dodd Miller. He attended Gurdon, Arkansas schools and Central Baptist College. Bro. Miller served his country through the Army Air Corp during WWII. He married Bertha Fay Francis on January 4, 1942 and together they celebrated over 51 years of marriage. In 2000, he married Melba Ford and together they shared 6 years of marriage. Rev. Miller, a man who loved the Lord, served as pastor for Emmanuel Baptist Church in Bee Bee, AR, Antioch Baptist Church in McGeehee, AR, Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Texarkana , AR, Palm Street Baptist Church in Little Rock, AR, Pine Crest Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, AR, Faith Baptist Church in New Port, AR and North Main Baptist Church in Hamburg, AR. Bro. Miller was preceded in death by two brothers: Marvin S. Miller and Buford Miller, and one sister Maxine Ashworth.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Miller and wife Linda of Little Rock, AR and Sam Miller and wife Ruth of Sulpher Springs, TX. One daughter Barbara Speer and husband James of Gary, TX and two step-daughters Cindy Kennedy and husband Randy of Arlington, TX and Dana Hickok and husband Robert of Ft. Smith, AR, thirteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Monday in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley and Bro. James Speer officiating, burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon till service time. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or Central Baptist College.
