Thomas “Maurice” Williams, age 84, of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

 

He was born on July 6, 1938, in Camden, the son of Henry Thomas Williams and Blanche Christine Dunn Williams.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Christine Thorpe; and two brothers, Harvey Williams and Junius Williams.

 

On May 3, 1968, he was married to the love of his life, Katie Smith.  Maurice was Baptist in his faith and worked for many years as Plant Manager for Georgia Pacific in Glenwood, and also worked for various other plants throughout the years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and visiting with friends.  Above all, Maurice was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who loved his family with all his heart, especially his grandchildren whom he adored.   

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Katie Williams of Glenwood; his five sons and their spouses, Thomas and Renee Williams of Hot Springs, John and Jacque Sorrells of Glenwood, Ron and Janelle Williams of Overland Park, Kansas, Richard “Butch” Sorrells of Glenwood and Charles Sorrells of Mayflower; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three sisters and their spouses, Mattie Humphreys of North Carolina, Linda and Ed Parker of Texas and Retta and Sheldon Richardson of Camden; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

 

The family will be at 913 Smokey Bear Lane, Glenwood, AR 71943, and welcomes any friends and family to stop by and share any special memories or stories you may have of Maurice with them. 

 

A memorial service to celebrate Maurice’s life will be held by the family at a later date. 

 

The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to the nurses and staff of National Park Hospital for all of their kindness shown to Maurice and our family, during this difficult time.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood.
