Thomas Stringfellow

Thomas "Tommy" Ralph Stringfellow, 80, of North Little Rock died Monday, September 11, 2017. He was born August 19, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Wesley Roland and Mary Ann Welsh Stringfellow.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Ruth Parsons Stringfellow; daughters, LeAnn Pruett (David) and Diane Ehlers; son, Thomas Wesley Stringfellow (Connie); grandchildren, Kristen, Megan (Kevin), Alyssa, Justin, Kyleigh, Thomas Jakob, Joshua and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Logan, Kynzlee, Briley and Kadie Grace; siblings, Norma Smith, Jessie Stringfellow (Donna), Dale Stringfellow (Gracie), Carol Johnson (Bobby); nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Billy and Bobby Stringfellow.
Tommy was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Sherwood and served in the United States Marine Corp. He lived in North Little Rock (NLR) for almost all of his 80 years and attended school in the North Little Rock School District before joining the Marines in the late 1950's. As a NLR native, Tommy spent his youth on Dixie lane and lived most of his adult life in Rose City before moving to Lakewood in the last 10 years. Tommy spent almost 60 years as a carpenter, he loved his profession and was also known for how hard he worked and later in life relished in the knowledge that he shared the same profession, carpentry, which Jesus did. Tommy was also known for his love of life, his family and all things Razorback. He was usually the life of any party or gathering he attended and never met a stranger. Tommy loved telling stories and jokes and making people laugh. Even though he was not a fisherman, he was known for telling tales that got better (and bigger) with every rendition. His favorite stories to tell usually involved his siblings and cousins while growing up and it was evident how much he loved his family by his affection for them in his stories. Tommy was also generous with his possessions. One of his favorite verses that was found circled in his Bible with a hand written note beside it that said "read every day" was Luke 12: 22-23 "Then Jesus said to His disciples: "Therefore I tell you, don't worry about your life, what you will eat; or about the body, what you will wear. For life is more than food and the body more than clothing." Of all the things that his family can remember him for, Tommy's favorite role in life was that of PaPaw. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never tired of spending time with them and wanting to be a part of their lives.
