Thomas Stokes
Thomas Terrell Stokes, 77, of Benton, AR passed away February 1, 2015. He was born on January 30, 1938 in Jellico, Tennessee to the late Donald and Eliza Stokes.
Thomas was a good man who believed in God, Country, and Family. He is remembered as a simple, modest man who always remained calm and "got the job done." He served his country in the Navy working as a fireman on the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier. Thomas enjoyed planting flowers and working in the yard with his wife.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ellen Stokes of Benton, AR; four sons, Darrell Wayne Stokes of Benton, Richard Irvin Stokes and wife Mary of Benton, Tommy Charles Stokes of Benton, Michael Lee Stokes and wife Lisa of Bauxite; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who loved Thomas and will miss him always.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2015, from 6 -8 P.M. at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, AR, 72015. Funeral service officiated by Bro. Stan Payne will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. Burial to follow at Pleasant Hills Cemetery in Avilla assisted by Darrell Stokes, Richard Stokes, Tommy Stokes, Michael Stokes, Richard Stokes, II, Tyler Stokes, and Christopher Stokes serving as pallbearers.
