Thomas O. Simmons, 80, of North Little Rock passed away Friday, December 21, 2012. After graduating from North Little Rock High School, he worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad for ten years. He retired from the Arkansas Air National Guard, and was a retired Captain from the North Little Rock Fire Department and serving in the Fire Marshal's Office. He was a member of Baring Cross Baptist and a Master Mason at Big Rock Lodge for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Connie S. Simmons; two daughters, Karen Simmons Ashley (Bryant) and Barbara Simmons Satterfield; son, Thomas Dean Simmons (Diane); four grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Montgomery (Blake), Daniel Ashley (fiancé Andrea Nehus), Sy Satterfield and Bret Satterfield; two great-grandchildren, Clayton and Laney Montgomery; and brother, Jack Simmons (Marilyn). He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas O. Simmons, Sr. and Pearl Hand Simmons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Baring Cross Baptist Church, 7541 Warden Road, Sherwood, Arkansas 72120 or Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery with a memorial service to be held at 1:00 PM at Baring Cross Baptist Church. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
