Thomas Shirley, Sr.

Thomas Eugene Shirley Sr. went peacefully to his Heavenly home on August 4, 2021. He was 87. Thomas was born on July 19, 1934, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Sheridan and Willie Mae (Stobaugh) Shirley. He was a husband, sweetheart, father of four, papaw to his grand and great grandchildren as well as a United States Air Force Veteran. Mr. Shirley worked for and retired from MacMillian Bloedel company after thirty years. His hobbies included deer hunting, fishing, and trapping hogs with his special friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and would cut up with anyone. He was a devoted member of Scotland Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church where he was active in the Men’s Ministry.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his one and only sweetheart, his wife, Virginia Mae (Stone) Shirley, brothers, Madison Bryant, Calvin Shirley, Otis Shirley, Paul Shirley; sister, Mary Alice Benge; and granddaughter, Rhonda Teas. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Diana (Lee) Teas of Conway, Karen (Mike) Foster of Searcy, Linda (Ronny) Gibson of Vilonia; son, Thomas “Tom” (Brenda) Shirley Jr. of Checotah, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Monday, August 9, 2021, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home with Pastor Sheila Gardner and Pastor Reba Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Sumner Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00pm until 4:00pm, Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114, (501) 758-1170.
