Thomas Murphy

Thomas F. Murphy, 75 of Jacksonville, went to be with the Lord after a courageous two-year battle with cancer on Friday, January 1, 2010. He was born on December 18, 1934 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Molly and Dock Murphy. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by four brothers and four sisters.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and past Master of Sylvan Hills Masonic Lodge #754. Upon retirement from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, he was a firefighter at Little Rock Air Force Base for 19 years, retiring in 1990.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Murphy; two daughters, Janice Hill (Dennis), and Rita Whitten (Don), both of North Little Rock; two sons, Dan Murphy of Jacksonville and David Murphy (EuJania) of Scottsburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Michael Murphy (Connie) and Megan Murphy of Scottsburg, Indiana, Lauren Whitten, Alison Whitten and Robin (Kip) Jackson of North Little Rock; and a sister, Violet Saxton of Huntington, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, 758-1170.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Faith Baptist Church, 109 Tanglewood, North Little Rock, Arkansas, with a private burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Faith Baptist Church Building Fund or Sylvan Hills Masonic Lodge #754, P.O. Box 6221, Sherwood, AR, 72124.
