Thomas Lewis

Thomas (Tom) Lewis, 94, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 12, 2008. He was born in Cairo, Illinois on June 24, 1913. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leonard Lewis and John Lewis; and three sisters, Nellie Lewis, Myrtle Lewis and Minnie Lewis and a half-sister, Christine Chamberlain. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Madine Cora Hunter Lewis; his only daughter, Patti Statton and husband, Joe; three grandchildren, Laura Statton, Timothy Statton and Nathan Statton and his wife, Shelly; and beloved great-granddaughter, Kaleigh Statton.
Tom proudly served in the U.S. 2nd Air SV SQDN, 5th Air Force from January 1942 to January 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign and the Philippine Liberation in Luzon. He was actively involved at First Baptist Church of Carsonville in St. Louis, Missouri for 21 years, and Central Baptist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas from 1982 until 2003.
Tom was trained in auto body repair, worked at McDonnell- Douglas Aircraft, and demolished houses during the construction of I-70 through St. Louis, Missouri. He was an avid coin collector and fisherman.
A Memorial Service will be held at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church on Saturday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Dr. Bruce Chesser. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Geyer Springs First Baptist Church for the Arkansas Baptist Children's Homes.
