Our beloved Thomas Forrest Leath born January 9 1941 in Harrison AR, joined his parents Forrest Alexander Leath and Mary Louise Dickson in eternal life September 13 2018. Tom was a very happy man and always had a kind word for everyone. He was one of the first residents of the Arkansas Children's Colony in Conway and lived most of his life in independent group homes in Alexander, Mayflower and Conway. He loved to work and was proud to engage in any activity assigned him.
He loved country music and playing his guitar. For many years he talked on his walkie talkie to truckers that passed near. It was always exciting the kindness many of them showed in their conversations with him. He loved to draw pictures and gave them to everyone hoping to brighten their day. He loved going to church, singing hymns and praying for others. God was with Tom every minute of his life and Tom trusted in God with all of his heart. He went through his days with a happy and kind heart; never harsh or impatient. All of these attributes will be missed by his family and those that were fortunate enough to be in his company. We will remember him lovingly as each of us strive to be more like Tom and closer to God.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Samuel William Leath (deceased wife May Lee Leath), niece Lori Pitcock and husband Jeff, nephew William (Bill) Leath, and nephew Ron Dennie (LiAnne), and sister-in-law Claudia Beverly. His great nieces and nephews, Leighton Leath, Briggs Leath and Katherine (Kapi) Pitcock, Carter Pitcock, Toren and Wilder Dennie. As well as many friends and caregivers over his long and blest life. We want to thank the staff at St. Andrews for the loving care given to him throughout his stay there. His final days were made more comfortable with Kindred Hospice.
A small family service will be held at St James United Methodist Church Sunday 9/16/2018 at 2:00. Burial will be in Harrison AR, at Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to Access Academy and Evaluation Resource Center 1500 N Mississippi, Little Rock, AR.
