Thomas Leon Lackey, 81, of Beebe, Arkansas, was born August 10, 1927, at McRae, Arkansas, to Thomas Tillman and Nora Belle Thompson Lackey, and he died Monday, February 23, 2009, at the V.A. Hospital, Little Rock. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and his working years were spent in management in the hospitality industry, mostly on the East Coast of the U.S. Thomas was a Rotary Club member and a Mason, and was a member of McRae First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Beulah Burnett, Theon Moore, Ada Smith and Shirley Sanders, all of McRae. He is survived by his wife, Mary Turner "Jackie" Lackey of Beebe; five children, Karen Kateley of Loomis, California, Glenda Stevens of Prescott, Arizona, Michael Lackey of North Carolina, Pamela Hartsell of Fort Myers, Florida, Kelley Griers of Tampa, Florida; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2009, at McRae First United Methodist Church, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 105, McRae, AR 72102.
