Thelma Smith
Thelma Smith, 82 of Mabelvale, slipped away peacefully on August 26, 2011 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock after a battle with Alzheimer's disease and complications from a stroke. Thelma was born on September 12, 1928 in Pearson, Arkansas; she was the daughter of Robert Rushin and Lillie Adcox-Rushin.
Thelma was a retired bookkeeper & tax preparer who enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, and deer hunting.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a step-son Andy Smith, brother Stanley Rushin, and a sister Christine Underwood.
Survivors include her husband Morris D. Smith of Mabelvale; children Shirley Ironside and her husband Larry of Mabelvale; Linda Long of Conway; Brenda Stroud of Little Rock; stepchildren Myron Smith of Hensley; Mark Smith of Hensley; Dean Smith of Mabelvale; a brother Robert Rushin of Nimrod; grandchildren Paul McAllister and wife Tammie, Mark Long and wife Jennifer, Chris Runnells and wife Nikki, Paula Kaye Duncan, Drew Smith, Misty Carmona and husband Michael, Andrea Smith, Maiken Smith, Sydne Smith and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011at Huson Funeral Home Chapel at 6400 Mabelvale Pike, Little Rock, Arkansas (one block west of 65th & University), burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Alexander.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2011 at Huson Funeral Home in Little Rock.
