Thelma Huffman

Thelma Huffman, 87, of Jacksonville passed away Friday, September 30, 2011. She was born May 16, 1924 in Needs Creek, Arkansas to Thomas and Alta Whitaker Johnston. She was a member of Bayou Meto Baptist Church, and was the first member to join in 1958. She played the piano, was active in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was always the first one to minister those in need, the sick and the bereaved.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Huffman; two granddaughters, Kendra Fortner and Katelyn Huffman, of Jacksonville, and their mother, Debbie Huffman, of Cabot. She will be missed by her special friends, Marthell Hoggard and Lorey Phillips She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Huffman; granddaughter, Jodanna Kaye Huffman; and her "little friend" Lawson Phillips.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Cabot Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday at Bethel Cemetery in North Pulaski County. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
