Theadore Baker

Theadore (Ted) Carriol Baker, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015. He was born in Carlisle, Arkansas on January 17, 1929 to Rennie and Jennive Baker Copeland. He worked at General Motors in St. Louis, Missouri, building the first Corvette. He then returned to Carlisle to find work at MacMillan Bloedel Container in Little Rock for 38 years as a printer.
Theadore was a loving husband to his wife Joanne Sulcer Baker for over sixty six years and a devoted father to their children, a son Joe Mack Baker and three daughters; Judy Williams, Teddy Goodman and Toni Baker.
For Ted, nothing was more important than his family and nurturing love with that family. Though he worked 38 years at McMillan Bloedel Company, after working 5 and 6 days and 12 hour days until he retired in 1994, he never sacrificed a moment of devotion to his wife and children. Throughout it all; he stressed love, love of each other and respect for each other. He lived and taught a love that was honest and complete and tough. That love will remain with all those he ever met during his path on earth.
He was a proud, wonderful and caring "Pap Paw" to his nine grandchildren; Anjanette Buffalo, Brian Beck, Shawn Shellenbarger, Sara Rogers, Samuel Goodman, Spencer Stricklen, Jarrah Owens, Kristena Bryan, Joseph Baker and Mary Ann Baker; eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rennie Baker, mother Jennive Copeland, brother, Marion Baker, two sisters, Rita Firl and Mattie Basinger and a great-grandson, Loren Buffalo.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday at Friendly Chapel. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
