North Little Rock

Terry Lynn Inscore, I

Terry Lynn Inscore I, 62, of North Little Rock went to his heavenly reward on March 6, 2025. Terry was the youngest of eight children born to the late Mary Ruth (Rupert) and Cecil Inscore in Greenville, Tennessee on February 21, 1963. Terry was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Inscore.

Survivors include his wife, Kim Stracener Inscore; three children: Marilyn Herring (Chris), Miranda Rowland (Stephen), and Terry Lynn Inscore II (Sidney); the mother of his children, Rebecca Inscore; bonus children: Shelbi Ontiveros and Spencer Perez (Kami); siblings: Sandra Nelson, Alan Inscore (Gloria), Gary Inscore (Sherri), J.D. Inscore and Brenda Shipley; grandchildren: Finley Rowland, Gregory Rowland, PaisLee Ontiveros, Hayes Ontiveros, Zayla Perez, Zavan Perez and Zarah Perez.

Terry was the proud owner of Inscore Tile and Marble, which he built from nothing, and was known for his beautiful work across the nation and even Mexico. He donated his time and talent as he laid over 12,000 square feet of tile and green marble in Building 1 of First Pentecostal Church on Calvary Road. The gold cross in the foyer fountain was set by his hands, as the final tiles laid in the building. When it was time to work on Building 2, he assisted the many other men who worked so diligently on the endeavor. Terry assisted in completing these massive projects in addition to his day job, never missing a lick. He was the fastest tile setter around, and could outwork anyone, often becoming frustrated because they couldn’t keep up, or at least bring him tile fast enough.

He was a faithful member of First Pentecostal Church for 37 years. The Lord brought him to FPC as a result of them having Friday evening services. Terry was bored and looking for something to fill his Friday evenings, but he quickly fell in love with Bishop Holmes, who lovingly took his family of three, with one on the way, under his wing, and cultivated and nurtured a floundering family into making something of themselves. Terry’s desire to be all he could be, gave his family all the material possessions they could possibly hope for, but more importantly grounded them in a faith and congregation with leadership who truly loves them. Terry’s love for Bishop Holmes, Pastor Holmes and his entire church family will shine through his craftmanship for generations to come.

During the build of Building 1, First Pentecostal Church gifted him a beautiful new tile saw proudly proclaiming “Inscore Tile and Marble” on the side. It was most unfortunate that this saw was stolen from the back of his truck while he and Tim Howard watched from inside Waffle House, never really comprehending what they were seeing with their own eyes. They perused many pawn shops, never to see the saw again.

Terry will be fondly remembered for mentoring several men in the tile-laying trade and they will continue his legacy. He started his work day early, often banging on windows at 4:00AM, telling them it was time to get to work; they shouldn’t have stayed up all night. His first employee was Tim Howard, who credits many of his core principles today to lessons he learned from Terry. “You have to get while the getting is good.” Roger Cypert was another employee who was very near and dear to Terry’s heart, and remained an incredible friend through the years, even after starting his own successful tile and marble business. Roger remained such a good friend, that in recent months he would pick Terry up for church on Sunday mornings. One final employee to mention is Terry’s son, “Little Terry”. Little Terry learned the trade, and while he did not carry on the family business, they worked the last few jobs together with “Big Terry” directing from his seat on an overturned bucket.

Terry didn’t have hobbies, as he worked what seemed like all the time, but when he did have spare time, he enjoyed laughing, joking and pulling any prank possible on unsuspecting individuals, who most of the time were his closest friends.

If you were looking for Terry, you would look at Waffle House, Hardees, Starbucks or the After Prayer Café. He was not a coffee drinker, but he could get a Diet Coke, and later a Coke Zero, at most of those places, and would bring his own from Kum & Go when hanging with Ronnie Brewer at Starbucks.

“Going browsing” at Walmart, Dillard’s, Home Quarters, Home Depot and Lowe’s was always on the table. The problem was, he was ok with just looking often reminding his daughters, “you don’t have to buy everything you see.”

You can see, Terry had many friends and never met a stranger. He will be missed by every single person who knew and loved him for these short 62 years.

Terry's later years were unfortunately filled with much illness. These long days were made more bearable with the help of Arkansas Hospice, the UAMS Parkinson’s and Mobility Clinic, the team at CARTI Cancer Center and Dr. Brad Jenkins and team of Lakewood Family Clinic. Every single person, with each of these organizations, was quickly won over by Terry’s calm demeanor and still very jokeful self. Each individual was a blessing in tough times, often reading through him when he said the pain was “just a little”.

Terry loved nothing more than to get together and socialize, often organizing dinners and birthday parties for his family. While the family is grieving, they do hope you will stop by for his final arrangements and share your fondest memories. Visitation is Monday, March 10, 2025, 6:00–8:00PM, with the funeral service on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, 1:00PM. Both in the sanctuary of his beloved First Pentecostal Church, 1401 Calvary Road, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Terry’s final resting place will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Built on the Rock Building Fund at First Pentecostal Church. Terry was most excited for the future of FPC, knowing His truth endures for all generations.
