Syble Dycus

November 12, 1930 — November 1, 2015

Syble Dycus

It was a joyous occasion on November 12, 1930 in Scott, AR, when a baby girl was born to Tommy and Cordie Fleming. Syble Marie continued to bring sunshine into the home with her brothers, Grady and Tommy Jr.

Syble met the man of her dreams and she married Theodore R. Dycus in July 1954, in North Little Rock. To this marriage was added two daughters, Anita and Patricia. She departed this life on November 1st, 2015 surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers. She is survived by her husband, Theodore and daughters, Anita (Ted) Whittington of North Little Rock, and Patricia (Mark) Melton of Scott, AR; grandchildren, Tiffany Whittington, Ryan Melton (Khara), Rebekah Sanford (Stephen), and Rhett Melton (Hannah), all of North Little Rock, Jerrod Whittington (Holly) of Arnold, MD, and Rachel Downs (Greg) of Fayetteville, AR; great-grandchildren, Allison, Luke and Reed Melton; Mason, Keegan and Melton Downs; Ashton, Payton and Shelton Whittington; Nova, Jude and Griffin Sanford, and Heidi and Clive Melton.

Syble was a faithful member of New Life Pentecostal Church. She served as Ladies Auxiliary Leader over the Women's Ministries for many years. She was a giver, who was always busy in the Kingdom serving God and others. Her greatest title was wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for her family and friends. She loved her family unselfishly and was their greatest encourager. She loved gardening and yard work. She took great pride in her flowers and landscaping.

Syble was often described as sweet and sassy. She was known for her wit and humor and brought a lot of smiles to her friends and family. Her family takes great comfort knowing that she "fought a good fight, kept the faith and finished her course." Thanks to Arkansas Hospice and friends and family that have been so thoughtful.

Visitation will be Monday, November 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the New Life Pentecostal Church, 12506 Hwy 165, NLR. Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Keo Cemetery.
