Sybil Holiman Brockett went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday December the 13, 2022 at the age of 94. Born in Prattsville, AR on November 5, 1928, the last of 9 children born to Tilman and Nellie Williams Holiman. The family moved to Mabelvale in 1929 where Sybil attended school and graduated from Mabelvale High School in 1946. She was a standout softball and basketball player while in High School and beyond, playing until she was 22 years old.
Sybil married Harold Hayward Brockett on Feb 1,1952 in Little Rock and they made their home in North Little Rock, AR. Sybil worked for MIC Insurance for many years which was located on the top floor of the Donaghy Building in downtown Little Rock, before becoming a stay-at-home mom.
Sybil is preceded in death by her husband Harold Hayward Brockett and all 8 of her siblings, Jeannette Coulter, Sue Coulter, Ella Mae Ruetz, Bill Holiman, Mary Nell Meyers, Tilma Hicks and twins Rose Grimes and Ross Holiman.
Survived by her children, Lynn Rogers Jones (Jerry), Dianne Percefull (George), Steven Brockett (Debbie) and Karen Kizer; her grandchildren, Kelly Bevis, Mark Rogers, Don Bevis, Kristen Quintero, Kyle Brockett, Kathryn Brockett, Spence Kizer, Ryan Ross Kizer, and Logan Kizer; 10 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Sybil was a long-time member of Highway Baptist Church in North Little Rock, when she and Harold retired to Fairfield Bay, Sybil joined Fairfield Bay Baptist Church. Once Sybil moved to Little Rock, she joined Immanuel Baptist Church. Sybil was a Sunday School teacher for many many years and loved sharing the word of God. Sybil served on a variety of committees, and never lost her passion and love for our Lord.
Sybil loved to cook and play golf! She and Harold played golf coast to coast and spent the winters in Florida playing more golf, eating seafood, and walking the beaches. Cooking was a passion, she enjoyed cooking for others particularly if they were sick or home convalescing. Thanksgivings and Christmases were special for our family with the food being the main event. Daddy always said Sybil could make a meal from Robin’s wing.
Funeral Service will be held December 19, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock. Followed by burial at Sylvania Cemetery located in Sylvania, AR.
Thank you to all the Caregivers at the House of Three (Biscayne). We are beyond thankful for your loving care of our mother. Thank You to Gentiva Hospice for the end-of-life care that was invaluable.
