Suzanne Best

LITTLE ROCK - Janice Suzanne Whitfield Best joined her Lord and Savior on December 28, 2023. Born September 29, 1935, to Dewey and Ruby Whitfield of North Little Rock, Suzanne had a gift for making people feel loved. Her warmth and caring attitude was exceeded only by her love for Jesus Christ and all that he had given her.

Suzanne will be remembered for her skills as a painter and her talent as a real estate broker with Adkins, McNeill, Smith and Associates of Little Rock. Her bright smile and cheerful spirit lit up a room the moment she entered it. A devoted studier of the Bible, she wore her “Try God” necklace everywhere she went, always willing to share her thoughts and beliefs with anyone no matter where she might be.

After attending Hendrix College, Suzanne married the love of her life, John Wayland Best of Little Rock, on August 22, 1954. The Lord blessed them with three sons, John Richard Best, Gary Michael Best and Robert Whitfield Best. Between raising her sons, her love for decorating, traveling for church ministry  programs and following numerous sports teams, Suzanne lived a long and full life. She was, in her own words, “not the worst, but the Best.”

Suzanne made a wealth of friends in her lifetime, all of whom found her easy to talk to and ultimately down to earth. Her style and grace impressed all she came in contact with, whether they were part of her work life or her church homes.

Suzanne is survived by her son, Robert. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and her sons, Gary and Ritchie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Suzanne’s name to Chenal Valley Baptist Church, St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Fellowship Bible Church of Little Rock or to the Arkansas Food Bank.

A private burial ceremony will be held at Rest Hills Cemetery in North Little Rock. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, January 4, at 2:30 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church, 1501 Kirk Road, Little Rock.
