Sue Shumaker

Sue Carolyn Swearingen Shumaker
November 18, 1946 - November 19, 2015

Sue Swearingen Shumaker left this earthly realm after enduring a brief illness, surrounded by her devoted family. She is survived by her husband, David; David; two daughters, Stacy Pitts and Shelly West; son-in-law, John Erwin; and, two grandsons, Zachary West and Zane Erwin.; as well as her brother, Lowell Swearingen, his wife, Darci; and, nieces, Jennifer Swearingen Campbell and Lauren Swearingen Hardin; and, nephews, Bryan Swearingen and Daniel Swearingen.

After working as a bookkeeper for many years in various companies throughout Dallas and Little Rock, Sue obtained a long term corporate position with TCBY Systems, where she enjoyed her best career success in corporate management. While at this job, which included supervising the mailroom, she was able to meet David, who became her lovingly devoted husband. They married in 1996. Sue eventually moved on to work in other organizational environments, where she found unexpected friendships while helping with quality control at Special Olympics fund raising through Heritage Publishing. Although her position was supervisory, she made friends with fellow employees from all sorts of levels, and even some that continued after her retirement.

She was also a talented musician and songwriter who enjoyed singing and playing piano and keyboards, begin inning in church at an early age, advancing to later work with other composers and musicians throughout Arkansas. She treasured time with her family and friends, and recently attended her 50th annual Malvern High School reunion at Lake DeGray in Hot Springs, where she got to enjoy reuniting with beloved classmates to have fun, reminisce and share.

A service honoring her memory will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. An on-site reception to follow.
