Sue Edwards

September 3, 1943 — June 21, 2010

Sue Edwards

Our family circle has been broken, our hearts are sad. Sue was the dearest wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, mother-in- law, aunt and friend anyone could ever have. Brenda "Sue" Edwards, 66, of Little Rock passed away on Monday June 21, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born September 3, 1943 in Pryor, OK to Clifford A. and Hugh Lee Bates. The family moved to Hobbs, NM where she grew up and married Joe Edwards in 1963. They, with 2 children relocated to Little Rock in 1971, added a third child, and have called it home ever since.
Sue worked for the Pulaski County Special School District for over 20 years where she touched and changed so many lives. She was loved by her co-workers, parents and students over the years and many of them considered her family, especially those at Joe T. Robinson Elementary School. Sue was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she and her Mother attended regularly.
Preceded in death by her father, Clifford A. Bates and brother, Samuel Bates, Sue Edwards is survived by her Mother, Hugh Lee Bates; her loving husband of 47 years, Joe Edwards; son, Michael Edwards and wife, Susan; daughters, Melinda Edwards Foutch and husband, Steve and Meredith Edwards. She had 4 wonderful Grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Jessica and Sam Edwards, and Wyatt and Radford Foutch; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Michael and his wife, Susan and children, Jessica and Sam, live in Flagstaff, AZ. Melinda and husband, Steve, along with children, Wyatt and Radford live in Franklin, TN. Meredith currently resides in Ft. Worth, TX.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 1101 N. Mississippi, Little Rock. Sue enjoyed wearing tasteful, yet colorful clothing. We ask that you enjoy wearing the same to the service so we may all celebrate her outlook on life.
The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Sue's name to Presbyterian Village, 510 Brookside Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205 where her Mother, Hugh Lee Bates currently resides and where Sue spent a lot of her time volunteering. Or, to the American Cancer Society, Mid-South Division, Inc. 901 N. University Ave. Little Rock, AR 72207.
The family and friends of Sue will greatly miss her as she brought love and joy to everyone she touched.
Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock, (501)224-2200. Sue's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
