Steven Jackson

Steven Howard Jackson 57, of Beebe, Arkansas, was born February 21, 1953, at Searcy, Arkansas, to Billy Ray and Wilma Jackson. He passed away April 13, 2010.
He is survived by his parents; his sister, Becky Lynn Jackson of Garner; his children, Rachel Danielle Jackson of Lafayette, Louisiana, Kyle Spencer Jackson of Chicago, Illinois; and his children's mother, Rebecca Louise Jackson of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Steve was a much loved son, brother, father and teacher. He received a Bachelor of Arts and Master's degree from UCA and taught English literature at UA Monticello, UCA and UALR. He later received his PhD in English from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He taught at LSU in Alexandria for twelve years, where he was much loved for his passion for teaching and creative talents. He most recently taught at ASU Beebe, where he was also loved by teachers and students.
Steve loved reading, writing, walking in nature, cooking, acting, baseball and watching old movies. He especially loved music. Steve had a beautiful voice and an astounding talent for the harmonica. He wrote a number of beautiful songs. His music, talents, humor and love will be missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made to Area 6 Special Olympics, 1500 W. Arch, Searcy, AR 72143.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Cheek Cemetery.
