Steve Glen Griffin, 60, of Sherwood, Arkansas, traveled to his eternal home on Friday, April 3, 2015. He was born on June 21, 1954, to the late Ernest "Jack" and Margaret Griffin in Pineville, Louisiana. Steve truly was a man after God's own heart. He was ordained a Deacon in 1984 and faithfully and fervently served the Lord throughout his life. Every action, every decision, every breath was bathed in prayer and Steve's love for Christ was obvious to all that he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Rachel Ann and his granddaughter, Madison Beth. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Sandi, his two children; Matt married to Stephanie, and Micki (Herbold) married to Jason; and his five grandchildren, Justin and Meghan Griffin, Ethan, Emma, and Mya Herbold; and two honorary grandchildren, Genevieve and Evan Blanchard. Additionally, Steve is survived by four siblings, Ernest Griffin III, John Griffin, Mary Butler, and Martha Jones. Steve is also survived by a multitude of others who loved him, most of whom did not merely call him friend, they called him brother.
Steve enjoyed life to its fullest. He was a man of hospitality and wisdom. His home was always open and there was always an ample supply of food and coffee which he offered to any visitor that came to his house. Countless stories, numerous words of advice, and hours of good times have been shared on the front porch, and the back deck with Steve. The Griffin house has always been the hub for social gatherings, and Steve was always the heart of these events, frying turkeys, grilling burgers, or smoking a brisket. He was a hard worker, and had recently retired from the railroad after 40 years of service. He loved old tractors, and loved working with his hands. Steve's grandkids were his pride and joy. He was so proud of his family and loved them dearly. Steve spent most of his free time with his wife Sandi. Whether it was making hospital visits to sick church members, going to tractor shows, working in the yard or driving the jeep to hiking trails and waterfalls throughout the state, the two of them did it together. Steve was a true man of God, and as certain as the sunrise, you knew that no matter where Steve was or what his plans were for the day, his day would start with a cup of coffee and morning devotional. Though we grieve for him here on earth, there is no doubt that he was welcomed into Heaven and heard the words, well done, my good and faithful servant.
