Steve Garner, age 71 of Arkadelphia died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born Oct. 6, 1934 in Eutaw, AL the son of the late Stephen A. and Nadine Deaton Garner. He was a retired civil service communications manager, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Park Hill Baptist Church. He was a former board member of the Red River Baptist Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mel Bell Garner; three daughters, Melony G. Webb and Betty G. Reding both of Tucson, AZ, and Jeannie G. Davis of Demopolis, AL; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 9, 2006 in Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
