Stanley Blaylock

After an extended illness, Stan "THE MAN" Blaylock departed this life on July 20, 2007, surrounded by his family. He was born March 22, 1953 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Jim and Jackie Blaylock. Stan was loved by his family and many friends and especially by his faithful cat, "Leia", and most of all, he was a loving and devoted father. Stan graduated from Catholic High School in 1971. He attended Southern State and Henderson State Universities. Most of his career was spent in restaurant management. Stan loved to go to the movies, and he had a passion for fishing, camping, horse racing, the Razorbacks, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Stan was preceded in death by his mother, Jackie; his maternal grandparents, Vi & Ray Hayes, and his paternal grandparents, Mary Agnes & James Blaylock. He is survived by his children, Mandy Knepper (John) of Springdale, Arkansas; Josh Blaylock of Charleston, South Carolina; and their mother, Linda Blaylock of Little Rock; his father & step-mother, Jim & Agnes Blaylock of Hot Springs; his brothers and sisters, Terry Blaylock (Ann), Marilyn Sanders (Jerry), and Tony Peitz, all of Little Rock; Mary Jac Blaylock, Chris Blaylock, Trish Blaylock, and Jamie Goodwin (Dean), all of North Little Rock; Michael Blaylock of McKinney,Texas; Alan Peitz of Ozark, Missouri; Eddie Peitz and Danny Peitz (Sandy), all of Long Island, New York; and his grandmother, Ruth Blaylock of Texas. Stan is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kenneth Sauer and the staff at Hospice Home Care for their compassionate care for Stan.
A casual memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 22nd at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Due to Stan's love of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals, please feel free to wear your favorite sports attire to the service. Immediately after the service, the family will receive visitors at the home of Terry Blaylock. A private celebration of Stan's life will be held at Greers Ferry Lake in Heber Springs at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice Home Care in honor of Stan.
