Sophia Beverly

Sophia Marie Beverly was born January 25, 1947 in McGehee, Arkansas to Percy William Beverly, Sr. and Willie Alexander Johnson-Beverly. She fell asleep in death on January 2, 2015. Sophia was a Residential Advisor for Little Rock Job Corps where she enjoyed working with the youth. She also worked for the Little Rock School District, doing what she enjoyed most, cooking. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in Pontiac, Michigan in June, 1978.

Sophia was preceded in death by her parents; grandparent, Sophia Gold; sister, Patricia A. Beverly; brother, Robert B. Beverly; and grandson, Kalon Jarelle Burns. She leaves the following to remember their moments together: her daughter, Colette (Ronald) Chism and two grandchildren, Jacobi Davis and Rhaniyah Chism, all of Little Rock; four sisters, Betty J. Rhodes of McGehee, Sandra Freemont (George) of Houston, Texas, Gwendolyn Cokeley (James) and Stephanie Turner (Gerald), both of Little Rock; four brothers, Roscoe S. Belvin (Yong) of El Paso, Texas, Chester Wright (Bernestine) of Pine Bluff, Percy William Beverly, Jr. (Johnnie) of Little Rock, and Bobby Sims (Wanda) of Pine Bluff; aunt, Frankie B. Woods of Pine Bluff; uncle, Elroy Beverly, Jr. (Rosie) of McGehee; and special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, many relatives, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, January 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services will be Saturday, January 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 10412 Mabelvale West Rd., officiated by Aliysius Keith, followed by interment at Elmlawn Cemetery.
