Sonny Lester
Vestal "Sonny" Lester, 90, of Fredericksburg formerly of Little Rock, Arkansas, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Mary Washington Hospital.
He was born on October 5, 1919 in Woodson, Arkansas. He was the son of the late Frank and Mary Lester. On Feb. 11, 1939 in Little Rock, Arkansas he married his late beloved wife Mary Lou Lester. Mr. Lester was a US Marine Veteran of World War II. He spent 39 years as a driver and supervisor for the Inter City Transit, Continental Trailways and Greyhound combining that with his TV repair service.
Mr. Lester was a Mason for over 50 years having received lifetime status. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas until moving to Virginia in 2004.
Mr. Lester was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Lester; his parents; his twin sister, Estel; sister, Leola; and his brothers, Earl, William and Tom.
He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn Gray and Sandra Rader and her husband Mike; two sisters, Lola Markham of Amarillo TX and Beulah Vansickle of Little Rock, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Greg, Kevin, Jeff, Jeremy and Josh; two step-grandchildren, Amber Hayes and her husband, Ray and Michael Rader and 11 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 3, 2010 at Little Rock National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Huson Funeral Home in Little Rock.
