Sibyl Linder

Sibyl Baty Linder, 69, of Lonoke was born August 15, 1941 and died on December 3, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Joe H. and Marie Hoggard Baty. She grew up on a dairy farm and lived most of her life in the Oakdale Community, north of Lonoke. Sibyl married James (Jim) Linder on June 26, 1959 and they were married 37 years before his death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Bobby Ward and niece, Tammy Baty Hart.

Sibyl was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible school for many years. She was named the Carlisle Lion's Club Citizen of the year in 1998. She retired from Carlisle Public Schools, where she drove a school bus for 18 years and fed every child in Carlisle for 34 years. She was known for her homemade pies, home cooked meals, and her embroidered quilts. Throughout her sickness, she never lost her sense of humor, always spoke her mind, and loved her family dearly.

Survivors include; daughter, Susie Ward; son, Jimmy (Buddy) Linder and wife, Rena; brother, Bobby Joe Baty and wife, Faye; one foster brother, Lawrence Junior White and wife, Pat; two grandchildren, Jennifer Smart and husband, Drew and Scott Linder and wife, Lindsey; one great grandchild, her precious, Hannah Jo Linder and another on the way; nephews, Benny (Bo) Baty and Joe Lee Hart all of the Oakdale Community; one aunt, Tressie Bryant of Woodlawn; in laws, Claude Jesse and Melba Linder, Louise Hickingbottom, Doris Linder all of Winnsboro, Louisiana, Donnie and Bernard Farrer of West Monroe, Louisiana, Leonard Linder of Dripping Springs, Texas and many nieces and nephews; her special friends; cousin, Martha Sue Dawson; best friend, Faye Martin; and her dog, Penny.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Westbrook Funeral Home with burial in New Hope Cemetery, Lonoke.
