Shirley Rose Redd, was born September 20, 1930 in St. Louis, Mo, the only child of Earl and Ida Hunt. She passed from this life to join her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 8, 2014 after a brief illness. Preceded in death by her parents and John Redd, her husband of fifty-six years, she is survived by daughters, Diana Lee Paul of Cabot, Linda Kay Forziati of Pocassett, MA and son, Michael Redd of Clinton, MO, along with nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was raised in St. Louis where she met and married John Redd. She followed him to Nellis AFB, NV where he served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps guarding nuclear testing sites during the Korean War. After his becoming a sales representative for Olin Chemical, they lived in Omaha, NE before settling in Little Rock in 1963, where they raised their children. She was a Registered Nurse and a talented pianist, passing on her love for music to her children. After the passing of her husband in 2010 she moved to Stonehaven Assisted Living facility in Maumelle, AR where she made many new friends and established a card ministry to remember and celebrate every resident's birthday. In her last years she reflected the love of God in Christ Jesus to all who came to know her.
A 2:00 p.m. memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 for her friends at Stonehaven Retirement Center in Maumelle before a private burial at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock.
