Shirley McAnulty

Our beloved mother, Shirley Annette "Mrs. Mac" McAnulty, aged 88, died peacefully in her sleep at Baptist Health Medical Center, Arkadelphia July 31, 2018. Shirley was born on October 14, 1929 to the late George and Bess Wise of Watertown, NY.

She graduated from nursing school and became a registered nurse in 1949. Shirley married the love of her life, Donal H. McAnulty on December 31, 1950. They were married for 49 years before Don's passing in 2000. Together, they raised five children while Don served our country in the United States Air Force. They had tours of duty in Florida, Bermuda, New York, Arkansas, Michigan and Nebraska, meeting many lifelong friends before retiring to Arkadelphia.

Shirley resumed her nursing career in 1975 and retired after serving her community for more than 17 years. Her family was always her passion. She loved any activity that involved her family, including cards, board games and big family get togethers. Shirley's favorite activity was croquet. She was a very good player and thoroughly enjoyed besting her children and grandchildren. Shirley was a long time, very active member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church where she had many friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donal, eldest son David and sister Barbara Patterson.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna McAnulty Hutchison and her husband Roy, Patricia McAnulty Fletcher and her husband Dennis, sons Michael and his wife Marti and Daniel. Other survivors include grandchildren, Roy A. Hutchison, Shannon C. McAnulty, Shaun H. McAnulty, Erin M. McAnulty, Evan M. McAnulty, Taylor M. McAnulty and great-grandchild, Stellen G. Hutchison.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Memorial services will begin at 3:00 Friday, August 3rd with graveside services following the service at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens AR-8, Arkadelphia.
