Shirley Lee âGrannyâ Brucks died January 24, 2022 in North Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 83. She was born in Greenwood, Arkansas and attended school there. After graduation, she moved to Little Rock to begin her life in the big city where she met her husband, Fred Kenneth Brucks. They were married 34 years before his death. They had two children, Kenneth Brucks and April M. (nee Brucks) Files.
She worked for the State of Arkansas Workerâs Comp until she retired to take care of her granddaughter, Megan, which she considered her greatest accomplishment. She also loved working in her garden and quilting was one of her greatest passions.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Charles and Nora Cooper; parents, Earnest and Thursey Moser; brother, J.D. Moser; sisters, Betty Jo French, Ruthie Moser, and Juanita Brown; and son-in-law, Damon Files.
She is survived by her brother, Clifford Marpel; sisters, Thelma Helms and Bonnie Sue Johns; Son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and April Brucks; daughter, April M. Files (nee Brucks); three granddaughters, Megan Brucks, Haley Brucks, Nicole Fritts; one great-grandson, Parker Fritts and many more who thought of her as Granny and she loved each and every one of them.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022 at Pollard Cemetery, Dover, Arkansas. Open visitation will be Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home, 1751 Dave Ward Drive, Conway, AR 72034. (501) 327-5000.
