Shirley Jean George, 69, of Benton, Arkansas passed away August 11, 2018. She was born February 8, 1949 in Little Rock to the late Leo and Annie (Ashcraft) Chase.
Shirley loved the Lord and was of the Baptist faith. She always found special ways of helping others and worked as a certified nursing assistant. Spending time with her family and grandchildren was the highlight of Shirley's life. She enjoyed celebrating all holidays with all her family gathered together.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tommy Wayne Childress; and two sisters: Louise Jenkins and Betty Meeks.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Paula McClendon of Haskell, Arkansas and Jennie Wilson of Newport, Arkansas; two grandchildren: Harry Nathaniel McClendon, III and Quina Berry; three great-grandchildren: Miley Michelle McClendon, Jonathan Allen Berry, Jr., and Avery Mae Berry; brother, Jimmy Lee Hewett and wife Mitzie of Benton, Arkansas; sister, Barbara Craig Baker of Haskell, Arkansas; and a host of family and friends who love Shirley and will miss her always.
Reception visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00, Friday, August 17, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas. Funeral service, officiated by Pastor Kenneth Mitchell, will follow at 2:00 PM.
