Shirley Fortson

Shirley Ann Huie Fortson, 76, of Jacksonville, Arkansas passed away on January 30, 2024. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Harry and Sylvia Huie. 

She is preceded in death by husband, James Fortson, siblings, Roger Huie, Jerry Huie and Jean Roberson.  Shirley is survived by her children, Sylvia Fortson and Bruce Fortson (and his wife, Michele); grandchildren, James Fortson, Leah Fortson, Emily Burdick, Timothy Norris and Michael Norris; siblings, Judy Plumlee, Elizabeth Echols, and Earline Bauman along with a host of family and friends.  

Shirley was a wonderful mom and enjoyed raising her children and watching her grandchildren grow up. She loved the outdoors and spent time fishing and camping.  Anytime she had the chance, she loved to garden.  

A visitation will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107) with a funeral service following at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Sumner Cemetery in Cabot.
