Shirley A. Smith

Shirley Ann Jones Smith, age 76, of Biloxi, Mississippi, died Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

Shirley was born January 14, 1944, in Solano, California, the daughter of Desmond Earl Jones and Elisa Victoria Maria Sandoval. On May 9, 1976, she married Sidney “Sam” Smith who preceded her in death in 2003. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, George Jr., William, Harold, and Charles; and her sisters, Louise and Glenda.

Shirley was a Coast Miwok Indian and a member of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria from Sonoma, California.

She retired form Tektronix in Portland, Oregon, after a long career. She was an avid golfer and loved to play. She won numerous tournaments and skunked Sam on many occasions.

She is survived by her sister, Leona Crites of Ontario, Oregon; four daughters and their spouses, Tammy and Scott Miller of Tualatin, Oregon, Toni Pena of Sacramento, California, Becky and Mark Foshee of Biloxi, Mississippi, Penny and Lynn Black of Norman; one son and spouse, Eddie and Terilynn Colum of Hot Springs; six grandchildren and their spouses, Daniela “Dany” Rojas of San Diego, California, Stacey Miller of Tualatin, Oregon, Tomi and Andrew Carpenter of Biloxi, Mississippi, Luke and Stacey Black of Norman, Heather and Jimmy Wade of Dewitt, and Ethan Foshee of Albany, Georgia; nine great-grandchildren and a host of beloved nieces and nephews and friends.

She will be laid to rest Monday, December 21, 2020, at 2:00 PM, in the Howton Cemetery near Bonnerdale, alongside her “sweet sugars” of 27 years and with her precious dog, Boogie. Brother Tony Essner will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Collum, Mark Foshee, Ethan Foshee, Lynn Black, Luke Black and Jimmy Wade.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
