Sherry Smith

Sherry Ann Smith, age 67, of the Caney Community died Saturday, January 24, 2015. She was born August 4, 1947 the daughter of L. A. and Idelle Williams Simms. She was a retired school teacher having taught 33 years at Ouachita High School in Donaldson and worked her last 10 years at Dawson Educational Co Op in Arkadelphia. She was a member of the Midway Missionary Baptist Church. Sherry dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, L. A. Simms.

Survived by her husband of 48 years, Don "Butch" Smith, two sons, Robby (Jerri) Smith of Glenwood and Jeremy (Lynette) Smith of Donaldson. Also six grandchildren, Shayna (Brian) Vandiver, Hayden, Dalton, Noah, Judd, and Katie Smith. Also her mother, Idelle Simms of Shongaloo, LA, two sisters, Melba (Sam) Hill of Arkadelphia and SuEllen Kirk of Shongaloo, LA, and one brother, Tony (Lindy) Simms of Alto, TX.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday evening, January 26th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 27th at Midway Missionary Baptist with Brother Fred Etheridge and Brother Morris Cloud officiating. Burial will be in Caney Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Hathcock, Raymond Spurlin, Hayden Smith, Dalton Smith, Kelly Hodges, Jackie Davis, and Sam Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class at Midway Missionary Baptist Church.
